The Program Committee is pleased to invite you to participate in the 7th annual workshop in this very popular and successful series. We encourage you to submit a technical abstract(s) for consideration for the workshop program. This is a full-day workshop with ample opportunities to attend talks, participate in networking and technical conversation, and engage with students. To accommodate increasing interest in the Oil and Gas HPC Workshop, we will include thematically organized, parallel tracks during part of the day. Technical themes for the 2014 workshop sessions will be determined by the diversity and strengths of the abstracts received. New for 2014 is an expanded student component that will include posters on display throughout the workshop. A separate call for student posters will be forthcoming.
High-end computing, computational science and engineering, and information technology continue to stand out across the Oil and Gas Industry as critical business enablers and differentiators with relatively well-known returns on investment. However, challenges remain with a rapidly changing technology landscape, discussions regarding the end of exponential hardware “performance” scaling, and a growing demand for software innovations and scalability, as well as the need to accelerate workforce development.
We invite authors to submit abstracts in the following areas:
• Making Exascale software/hardware a reality for Oil & Gas
• Distributed data management
• Data visualization/distributed visualization/remote visualization
• High performance i/o and file systems
• Programming models and examples for heterogeneous/hybrid system architectures
• Parallel software development and tools
• Algorithms and scalability
• HPC facilities and infrastructure scaling
• Clouds for scale-up and scale-out technical computing
• Curriculum, education and training – what skill set does the industry need moving forward?
We are looking for abstracts that are directly applicable to, and address broad needs of, the Oil and Gas industry. While we hope to attract the broadest possible set of abstracts, and are open to submission beyond the topics listed above; abstracts that come across as marketing will be rejected. In cases where you think marketing may be a concern, we strongly encourage the submitter to partner with a customer and include users and relevant use-cases.
